The year that Grandma Pat went to Padua, Italy to visit with cousins there, she came home enlightened and inspired. She toured the region with the cousins and ate meals at the big family table. After seeing Rome for the first time she proclaimed, “You must see Rome.”
Describing the original family estate, she said, “The Rosemary grows in hedges around the property,” and her arms would stretch out as if she were conducting an orchestra.
That was in 1990. From then on, she always had a big unruly Rosemary bush outside her home, in tribute to family far away.
There are many reasons for creating a garden. The Rosemary at the Zillah Lakes Inn was planted to honor Grandma Pat and our distant Italian family. Enjoy!
